June 25, 2009

This episode was packed with guests, starting with Michael Moresco, the Liberty Rider who's riding his bicycle across the country "Riding for Honesty."

Next up was Alan Gotlieb of the Second Amendment Foundation, who kept us in the loop on their current gun cases, and extended an invitation for our listeners to attend this year's Gun Rights Policy Conference (GRPC).

And to round it out, Gerhard Langguth joined us providing us with some background information on the Arkansas State LP, and we discussed the idea that proposing solutions is better than simply opposing everything.

The federal government is backing GM's 100,000-mile 5-year warranty.  What will that do to the quality of GM's cars, and what cost will that impose on taxpayers?

Joe Cobb from the Arizona LP joined the program to update us on the state's voter registration drive.  It appears that the state and most counties are so far in the clear in terms of maintaining the required number of voters for ballot status.  Given that Mr. Cobb is a professional economist and former aid to Ron Paul, we decided to take advantage of his presence and probe him a bit on monetary policy.

Scott Kohlhaas from the Alaska LP provided us with some interesting history of their state's LP and what the state is working on now.

We kick off the program discussing the restaurant carry bill, one that allows individuals to carry in restaurants (given the restaurant's permission), but the NRA is impeding the bill.  And remember to stock up on clunkers, because the government will give you a voucher of $4,500.  Later on, we focus on unions, their intrusion on property rights, and greed.  To wrap up the program, we had Mike Rster on from the Alabama State Libertarian Party to enlighten us about the events in his state.

June 4, 2009

To kick off the first segment, we received a brief update from Carrie Ann Sitren of the Goldwater Institute regarding the CityNorth case.  Moving into the second segment, we discussed Cap & Trade and the federal government's proposed implementation of it.  Later on, we contrasted utilitarianism with libertarianism, highlighting the differences.  At the end, we wrapped it all up to provide a possible sollution.

May 28, 2009

Our focus on this week's episode was on the 2nd Amendment.  We briefly discussed DC vs. Heller and Montana's bold move to enforce the 10th Amendment in the production and distribution of fireams within their state.  We also covered the principle behind gun ownership, differences in crime rates and trends where gun control laws exist vs. where they're more lax.
