The weather was unseasonably cool this past week in the Phoenix area.  Thank you Savior Obama for curbing the effect of global warming and bringing rain to the desert.

Why do we use currency as a medium of exchange instead of direct barter?  What is the government's proper role in currency, and how does government's manipulation of the currency affect the economy?  How did we get where we are, and what's the libertarian solution to problems associated with a government-controlled currency?

Nick was on location at Politics on the Rocks in Scottsdale in defense of capitalism, and later joined Richard and Jim in the second segment who were defending capitalism on the air.  We cover the misconceptions about capitalism, and talk about "managed" or "modified" capitalism (what we have now) verus "free-market", "competitive", or "laissez-faire" capitalism (something we've never had, but we really ought to).

Nick Dranias from the Goldwater Institute joined us to discuss his report "A New Charter for American Cities."  The report provides information showing how local governments can infringe on the rights of the individual just as much as state and local governments, perhaps more; and provides a proposal for citizens to ensure that their local government's job is to protect their liberties.

We're back!  As the first episode of our new station, 1100 KFNX, we'd like to welcome our new audience, and hope that many from KXAM have followed us over as well.  And to bring the new audience up to speed, we focused on the basics of libertarianism, such as the non-aggression principle.  We answer such questions as -- Are libertarians liberal or conservative?  What happens in business with or without minimum wage laws?  What's this idea about people interacting with each other on a voluntary basis?

Capitalism has gotten a bad wrap recently.  And if you understand what capitalism is, you know that it can't possibly be responsible for anything that's happened in our economy within the last few decades.  We discuss what capitalism is and compare it to other systems.

Tom from Freedom's Phoenix joined us to discuss their website and the campaigns they're running, and to provide updates about the Tea Party event in Arizona's capital.
