For our first interview, Shawn Dow from Camera Fraud joined us this evening to discuss the 2010 ballot initiative in Arizona to remove all traffic cameras from roads.  Later on, we interviewed Tom Jenney with the Arizona Chapter of Americans for Prosperity to discuss the state budget deficit.  In the final minutes of the show, we discussed the upcoming AZLP Convention and took a call from our favorite Green Party regular.

Welcome to the White House, President Obama.  There seem to be three types of people with regards to our new President.  The first is hopeful of the change he talks about, the second is fearful of the change, and the third believe that there won't actually be any change.  We at the Libertarian Solution fall into the last category.  While there will be superficial modifications, the overall trend of bigger and more intrusive government will stay the course, so to speak.

If you're interested in how the free market can take the place of government "services" and regulations, then stay tuned as we intend to do more episodes like this one.  We intervewed Gene Banman, CEO of Zero Motorcycles, a company that makes electric-powered motorcycles (only dirtbikes for now, but they say street-legal vehicles will be available within a few months).  We hoped to touch more on this topic and talk about our government outrage of the week, but we skewed off into a bit of a tangent with our favorite Green Party caller.

We've discussed in the past about how difficult the City of Mesa can be in operating a business because of their heavy-handed regulations.  Forbes put them at the top of their most boring cities in the country list.  Hmm...

Ernie Hancock joined us on the program to talk about his new "It's NOT My Debt!" campaign.  We brought to light the correlation between the state budget shortfalls across the country, and state income taxes.  And finally, we discussed the impacts of discrimination laws on businesses on their communities.

December 31, 2008

Our New Year's Eve program consisted of an interview with Carrie Ann Sitren, a lawyer from the Goldwater Institute, to discuss the win against Phoenix in the CityNorth case.  The Arizona State Constitution doesn't allow government to give gifts, and the courts upheld that provision.  We also discussed some political New Year's Resolutions, including a couple of ways to trim down the budget for the City of Phoenix, and government in general.
